The state’s ordered the county to stop accepting federal funding provided under the Affordable Care Act. The Herald-Tribune reports that will mean the shut down, next year, of the county health department’s primary care program. That’s been serving over 31,000 low income county residents, over 13,000 of the, children, for more than 3-decades. Where will those losing regular care do? To a hospital ER, the most expensive way of getting health care, and a cost which will be passed along to taxpayers.
