The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office wants you to think about using a detour this afternoon.
It reported a crash earlier this afternoon on I-75 northbound near Rampart Boulevard.
Traffic actually stopped at one point so a helicopter could land.
Expect continued congestion in this area for the short-term because the highway patrol needs to investigate.
Expect congestion through Port Charlotte on Highway 41 from Harbor Boulevard to Midway Boulevard northbound because of the closure of Edgewater Drive.
