CCSO’s Major Crimes detectives have charged a 15 year old Port Charlotte boy with three counts of sexual battery over incidents that allegedly occurred when he was 14 and the victim was 8 years old. A sheriff’s department spokesperson says the investigation started earlier this month when the girl’s mother called them to say her daughter told her she didn’t want to see a friend at a sports class because they’d touched her in a way she didn’t like. The girl, now ten, told investigators of three incidents in which the boy forced her to have sexual relations with him. The boy, identified as Joseph Balunas, is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
