Today’s shooting in Charlotte Harbor killed a man and a woman and injured one other person.

The sheriff’s office says it happened early this morning at the Charlotte Harbor RV Park on Tamiami Trail.

It happened during a domestic dispute with children inside the trailer.

A stand-off ensued with deputies shutting down Highway 41 in both directions.

As negotiators went to work, other deputies used the sheriff’s office new armed personnel carrier. This allowed them to remove a seriously injured woman and four children from the trailer and get them to safety.

The woman went to a hospital, and DCF took the children.

Ultimately, deputies entered the trailer and found a man and a woman dead. The sheriff’s office says except for gas canisters, no one fired any weapons during the stand-off.

The situation shut down Highway 41 for three hours.
