North Port’s City Commissioners today worked on finishing up details for a contract going to the Sarasota County Commission for the city to buy the county out of its ownership stake in Warm Mineral Springs. The Herald Tribune reports the Springs will still close at 5p.m. Sunday when the current operators contract expires, but North Port Mayor Jame Bulcher says it should only be closed for about two weeks while the contracts is reviewed and signed. The city will pay the county $2.75 million plus closing costs to take complete ownership of the 81 acre site. After the purchase, National and State Parks, the current Springs operator, has agreed to continue managing the site for one year.
