A Port Charlotte handyman hired to paint and do maintenance on a couple’s residence is accused of stealing over $14,000 while they were out of state. CCSO deputies allege 55-year old Christopher Israel used his key to the couple home to not only do the work, but write checks to himself to the tune of $14,600. He’s in the Charlotte County Jail on charges including eight counts of grand theft, exploitation of the elderly and disabled, and probation violations.
