Charlotte County’s public schools reopen Monday, and Sheriff Bill Prummell would like you to remember to be extra careful when going through school zones and when near school buses that may be picking up or dropping off students. The Sheriff’s Office’s Traffic Safety Team, as well as on-duty patrol deputies, will be increasing their patrols in and around the schools next week, with a special emphasis around the elementary and middle schools. Deputies will be looking for those who may be exceeding the 15 mph speed limit in the posted school zones, as well as drivers who violate laws involving stopped school buses.
