A cause for the problem hasn’t been found yet, but officials say several things can trigger it, including algae on shore that can breed bacteria; rough surf that churns up sand, releasing bacteria; and heavy rains that wash wildlife and pet waste into the water. Spilled sewage has been ruled at as a cause. Results from another round of water testing are expected tomorrow afternoon.
