An animal cruelty investigation follows last week’s discovery of a severely burned dog in Fort Myers.

NBC2 reports someone finding a two-year-old Terrier mix off New York Avenue.

That person rushed Sampson the dog to The Gulf Coast Humane Society, where staff believe the injuries resulted from a strong chemical burn on top of previous injuries.

Sampson needs at least one more week before his burns start scarring.
