A man was arrested this afternoon after police say he was seen beating a puppy in a Punta Gorda parking lot. The suspect’s been identified as 59-year old Fred Sheetz. ABC7 reports officers observed Sheetz beating the 13 to 14-week old puppy, and when asked why, he allegedly told them that’s how he trains his dog. Police took him and charged with animal cruelty. Charlotte County Animal Control took the dog.
