Punta Gorda Airport’s about to have a major growth spurt. There’s a plan to expand the current 16,000 sq. ft. airport terminal to about 60,000 sq. feet. Charlotte County Airport Authority Director Gary Quill says there’s been a jump in passenger traffic, from 56,000 people in February to 76,000 in March. The expansion will cost $11-million, with the federal government picking up 80% of the cost.
