The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says a 13-year-old Venice Middle School student’s been arrested on suspicion of attempted first degree murder. Deputies arrested him this morning as they investigate an attack on a jogger last night near Lemon Avenue and Bayshore Drive in Englewood. According to police a teenage boy started following Michael Baskind, then grabbed his shoulder and slashed his neck with something sharp. Deputies say the boy ran from the scene, tossing the knife. Baskind recovered it and told deputies he recognized the boy from the neighborhood and able to describe the teens home.
