After months of complaints from nearby residents, Punta Gorda’s Airport directors have taken some steps to lower the noise from Allegiant Airlines jets. The carrier’s tripled flights in and out of Punta Gorda. ABC7 reports the complaints have been coming from Burnt Store Meadows and Seminole Lakes. The airport’s limiting takeoffs to the southwest, but that’s about all they can do. They can’t change flight patterns, and federal law bars local governments from adopting noise reduction laws.
