The Sertoma Club of Venice was busy raising money, and their efforts have brought back the annual fireworks display over South Jetty Park on the 4th. The Herald-Tribune reports club members collected donations outside of local Publix stores, and for the first time used an online solicitation through the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to raise $10,000 in three and a half weeks. The City kicked in another $15,000 to make sure the fireworks start Thursday night at 9. About 8,000 people are expected. The online effort generated about 40% of the money raised.
