The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 20-year-old Venice man in connection with a night time bank burglary and a series of other crimes over the past two weeks.

Someone broke a window at the Bank of America, 218 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, just after midnight on March 18. After bank employees temporarily repaired the window, the suspect returned and stole a large amount of coins. During the course of the investigation detectives determined that a man seen carrying the same bag as the suspect in the bank surveillance video exchanged several hundred dollars’ worth of coins at the Coin Star machine in the Venice Walmart later that day. The suspect was identified as Zachary Beyer-Radford, 5270 Citadel Road.

Beyer-Radford was also under investigation for additional retail thefts at Walmart and for stealing the rental vehicle that he used to commit these crimes. Tactical Unit deputies located him on Friday night and during a search of his vehicle found drugs, ammunition and items stolen from Walmart.

Beyer-Radford admitted his guilt and is charged with Burglary, Wearing a Mask or Hood to Commit a Felony, two counts of Grand Theft, one count of Petit Theft, Drug Possession, Possession of a Weapon or Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Driving without a Valid License and Grand Theft Auto. He is being held on more than $40,000 bond.
