A bill to ban smoking in parks and at beaches has now passed two state senate committees.
The proposal, which is backed by democrats and republicans, would give cities and counties more power to decide where you can and can’t smoke. The proposal would require police or sheriff’s deputies to first inform smokers about restrictions and then ask them to leave if they continue to light up. If they refuse to put out their smoke, then they’d get a citation. The bill has to clear one more committee vote before it going to the full state senate.
