A Venice Church administrator was busted by Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies for allegedly embezzling over $50,000 in church funds, intended to help those who’ve fallen on hard times. 67-year old Robert Kondratick of Tempest Harbor Loop was arrested today for felony grand theft. The Herald-Tribune reports church council members contacted the sheriff’s department in January after discovering money had disappeared between June and December of last year. Investigators say Kondratick cashed 28 checks made out to “cash” or to himself – totaling $53,950. The church was paying Kondratick $3600/month plus another $800/month for health insurance and a car reimbursement.
