Property Managers Charged In Thefts

A Port Charlotte property manager and his assistant were arrested today in what investigators say is a scheme to collect rent deposits and not turn them over to property owners. Charlotte County detectives say 42-year-old Robert Zobel and his assistant, 31-year-old Crystal Stott -- who's also described as Zobel's live-in girlfriend -- are charged with Grand Theft and Operating Without A Real Estate License. They allegedly spent over 36-thousand dollars collected from homeowners and tenants over the last few months on what Zobel told officers was Stott's drug habit.
