Charlotte County Woman Takes Taxi Cab To Convenience Store Robbery

A Charlotte County woman was arrested Saturday night after taking a taxi to rob a convenience store. Investigators with the Punta Gorda police department say 32-year-old Cynthia P Sheik took a cab to the Race Track store located on Tiamiami Trail in Port Charlotte and robbed the store just after 11:00 p.m. While Sheik was inside the store, the cab driver flagged down a police officer and expressed concern over whether Sheik was going to pay the fare. Sheik made it out of the Race Track with $320 only to find police waiting. The clerk ran behind her and immediately told police about the robbery. Sheik was arrested without incident and charged with robbery and grand theft.
