A standoff in Port Charlotte that started when someone fired shots at sheriff’s deputies ended more than 8 hours later. We expect to learn more later today about just what went down at the home in the 17-thousand block of Foremost Lane, but CCSO officials say the standoff came to an end with the arrest of a 34-year old woman about 2:15 this morning. That was more than two hours after SWAT teams began firing tear gas rounds into the home in an effort to end the standoff. It started shortly after 6pm, when deputies sent to check a disturbance report and were fired upon as they entered the home. The shooter missed, and neither deputy was injured.
