The head of Sarasota County’s public bus system has resigned in the wake of a widespread safety issue. Sarasota County Area Transit head Anthony Beckford handing in his resignation. This after more than fifty percent of SCAT buses were found to have expired fire extinguishers on board. They’re required by federal law to be not only on-board buy fully charged. Another SCAT administrator is reportedly on paid leave because of the discovery. SCAT says all buses are now equipped with fully-charged fire extinguishers.
