Sculling in the sun. Competitive rowers from around the world are in Sarasota this weekend for the Sarasota Invitational Regatta. Organizers say more than seven hundred boats and fourteen hundred rowers will compete in two days of competition. The Regatta hasn’t been around more than a few years but it’s become one of the fastest-growing events in rowing: a 42 percent increase in participants in just the last year. And organizers say it’s now bringing a major economic impact, too, with most hotel rooms near the events booked solid this weekend.
