Sarasota airport officials are hustling to replace the loss of AirTran flights next summer, a story we reported yesterday. Southwest Airlines saying its AirTran subsidiary will pull its flights from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in August in a move to withdraw from smaller airports. WHen that happens, direct service from the Sun Coast to Baltimore, Chicago and Milwaukee will go with it. Now, at least five airlines are being courted to replace AirTran. They reportedly include US Airways, JetBlue, Spirit, Continental and Delta.
