Jobless numbers in Sarasota and DeSoto counties are below 10-percent for the first time in a long while. Charlotte county’s unemployment rate is poised to drop below doulble digits as well. Sarasota and Charlotte counties both saw their figures drop 0.3 percentage points from November to December, with Sarasota sliding from 10.1 percent to 9.8 percent, and Charlotte from 10.3 percent to exactly 10-percent. Meanwhile, DeSoto experienced the area’s most dramatic plunge – dropping 1.9 percentage points, from 11.3 percent in November, to just 9.4 percent of its workers unemployed last month.
