A Sarasota woman who stole a New Jersey doctor’s identity and used it to defraud Medicare has been sentenced to prison. The U-S Attorney’s Office says 58-year-old Mira Matchin will serve eighteen months in prison for health care fraud. Prosecutors say Matchin operated businesses in Warm Mineral Springs and North Port and used them to practice medicine without a license. They say she then used the Medicare Provider Billing Number of a New Jersey physician who did not give permission and was never involved in treatments.
