Could dropping health insurance payments for a former employee get the city of Venice sued? That could happen as former City Manager Marty Black says he’ll file a lawsuit if the city doesn’t pay all of his health insurance premiums or compensate him for them. Black retired to return to the private sector as a consultant three years ago and is complaining about having to pay over six hundred dollars a month for coverage for himself and his family. Black’s lawyer says he’s entitled to free health insurance for life, the same as some other retired Venice employees got until the city ended the coverage last summer.
