A student pilot from Russia uninjured in a plane crash in Venice today. A Cessna 152, single-engine aircraft crashed today around 10:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Base Avenue in Venice. The aircraft, owned by Florida Flight Training, is a total loss. The only person onboard, a student pilot who once served as a jet pilot in the Russian Air Force, walked away uninjured. (No one else was injured, as well.) Oleg Anatollyevich Bachurin told police he was practicing touch-and-go exercises at Venice Municipal Airport when he lost power shortly after take off and tried to get the aircraft back to the airfield. Bachurin told authorities he is taking flying lessons to get his commercial pilot’s certifications.
