(ENGLEWOOD) Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Englewood man for burglary of the Englewood Market, 3582 N. Access Road, Englewood East. Charged with Burglary is David Michael Norman, 25, 55 Hillcrest Drive, a twice convicted felon with nine bookings into the Charlotte County Jail.

Tuesday morning at 2:02 a.m. deputies responded to an alarm call at the business and noticed the rear door open. Deputies located two pieces of a broken knife blade near the door. At 3:27 a.m., a deputy stopped Norman near the business as he was walking down the Access Road and questioned him being in the area of the burglary; he was released as they could not tie him into the burglary at that time.

At 7:42 p.m. a deputy made a vehicle traffic stop by a Circle-K in Englewood. While the deputy was issuing a citation to the driver, a Sergeant began talking to Norman, a passenger in the car. The Sergeant asked Norman about the burglary early in the morning at Englewood Market. Norman began to sweat and stutter, and then talked about the burglary and how he fled with the alarm sounded. Norman said he needed money for drugs and he was hungry. Norman was arrested and transported to the jail where he remains on $2,500 bond. CCSO detectives are continuing their investigation concerning several other burglaries in the area.
