He’s been referred to as “Sarasota’s Rock Star of the International Art World” but now he’s headed to prison. Forty-seven-year-old Robert Preiss, former owner of Saint Armand’s Gallery, sentenced to two years in prison for art theft. Preiss convicted of selling consigned art without telling the owners or paying them the proceeds. He maintained his innocence and promised to repay the 350-thousand dollars he allegedly took.
