Five of the eight finalists for the Sarasota County Administrator job have come under fire this year from their respective commissions and two have survived firing attempts. The short list prepared for County Commissioners does not include any women or minority candidates, and critics say there are other qualified applicants that should be on it. The eight were selected an executive search firm hired to find a replacement for Jim Ley after he resigned amid a procurement scandal. Commissioners are set to narrow the field down to three to five next week but now, some say a new list might be a good idea.
