The Jenkins-Rinkard house withstood a hurricane, but a massive attic fire may be its demise. The fire that lit the sky Sunday night caused 150-thousand dollars damage, though the structure remains standing for the moment. Fire investigators say it looks like an electrical short in the attic may be to blame, but the fire cause is officially undetermined until the investigation is complete. The house was built in 1896 and is Englewood’s oldest structure on the mainland.
