A Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputy has resigned under fire, accused of faking traffic stops and lying to a superior. Thirty-two-year-old deputy Timothy Hamula was being investigated by the internal affairs unit on allegations that he logged traffic stops he never actually made — then withheld information from a superior when questions arose. Hamula was a deputy first class, assigned to road patrol in the Englewood area. He’d been in the Charlotte County Sheriff’s department for almost six years. He had been placed on paid administrative leave last month.
