Police have charged a 19-year-old North Port man with first-degree murder in the March shooting of a Bradenton teacher. Katrelle Johnson is charged with the murder of Kenneth Ellis last March. Johnson also charged with the June 21 murder of Robert Mann at a Warm Mineral Springs triplex. Ellis was gunned down in the doorway of his house March 29 when he answered the doorbell around 10 p.m. He later died from his wounds. Ellis’ wife and other witnesses told police they saw two people wearing dark clothing and masks flee from the area, perhaps in a dark-colored car. Police are still seeking a second suspect in the shooting.
