A hearing now set for September 13th on transit fares in Sarasota County. At issue: a proposed hike in the one-way fare on Sarasota County Area Transit — or SCAT — vehicles from seventy-five cents to a dollar-twenty-five. The increase would apply across the board to every class of fare on SCAT, including those for seniors and persons with disabilities. A public meeting is set for Thursday at six P-M at Sarasota City Hall, then the County Board will discuss the issue at the hearing next Tuesday.
