A Sarasota County doctor has been arrested for prescription fraud.

The sheriff’s department says 44 year old Dr. Boyd A. Robinson on six counts of Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud and one count of Obtaining Medicinal Drugs by Fraud. Sheriff’s investigators said they got a call from a pharmacist in July, indicating that the doctor may have forged another doctor’s signature on a prescription for Oxycodone. As detectives investigated, the Pharmaceutical Diversion Unit found that from June 2010 to July 2011, Robinson presented 73 fraudulent prescriptions for approximately 985 Oxycodone tablets at several area pharmacies. He was also apparently after some other drugs too. Robinson was arrested last Friday and booked into the Sarasota County Jail, then released after he posted a 65 hundred dollar bond.
