Nobody was charged, but a 14 year old boy was last listed in critical condition after he was hit by a Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputy’s car on Saturday.
The teen is identified as Stanley Collins Jr. and he’s in a hospital in St Petersburg. FHP said the crash happened around 3:30 Saturday afternoon on 17th Street and Dodge Avenue when he ran into the street and was hit by a car that Sarasota Sheriff’s Deputy Casey King was driving. FHP said Collins was trying to cross 17th Street. They said other cars missed hitting Collins, but King could not stop before Collins was hit, thrown onto the roof of the car and hit the windshield. King is not facing any charges.
