Although the fall talley isn’t complete yet, early numbers are showing that five years of declining enrollment in Sarasota schools may be a thing of the past. School officials saying around 41,000 students are attending public schools in Sarasota County. With additional enrollment always happening through Labor Day, that means the numbers for this year will probably be flat compared to 2010. That’s good because schools receive state funding based on the number of students enrolled as of an October count. For Sarasota schools, that amounts to around $6,700 per student.
